It was another excruciatingly hot day yesterday, but it began to rain in the middle of the night and the temperature dropped by about 20 degrees celsius today.
Sara and I went to Steiner playgroup this morning and had Lisette and Mia come around in the mid afternoon. It was Lisette's birthday today, so we baked a cheesecake for her.

It's so nice to be able to bake again as I just couldn't even contemplate getting the oven going for the last several days. I baked a fudge brownie this morning, a cheesecake in the afternoon and bread in the evening. I LOVE baking.

It was slightly cooler today than yesterday.  Sara spent the afternoon playing with Tyller.
Event though every time Tyller comes near, Richard starts frothing at the mouth, I've got to say that Sara and Tyller do get on enormously well.  They really seem to enjoy playing with each other.  We've got to be grateful for that.

When I went to pick Sara up from the daycare the other day, this is how she looked.

I was really quite impressed.

When Sara is in the car, she is always on a red light alert. If she sees a red traffic light, she will start yelling "red red red". "You have to wait till it's green mum."
She does this every single time.

Thank goodness we don't live in Sydney.

It was boiling hot yesterday and quite cool today.

I have been teaching Sara some Japanese.

She can quite confidently ask for a hug in Japanese.
I have also been try to teach her how to tell the left and the right sides for shoes.
She is not quite as motivated to learn this one.

It has been very hot today. We went to Steiner playgroup in the morning and we spent the afternoon at Lisette's house. The girls played outside naked in their mini pool and mums had a chat inside in front of the aircon.

I got back from Sydney a few minutes past midday today. Sara was watching a dvd. Surprise surprise. Richard and Sara had toasted sandwtiches for dinner last night. Sara was very happy to seeme, but I think father and daughter had a lovely time together.

It's hot today. I haven't really felt like doing much since coming home. We have finally got the home brewing kit going as the temperature will be warm enough for fermentation.

On the way to and back from Sydney, I read a lot. I finally managed to get going on a book I have been attempting to read for the last two months.
Sydney was warm and crowded. Around my sister's, I bumped into my former neighbours and caught up with the local IGA owner. It was as if nothing had changed around there. Of course, soon Effy and her family will be gone and that will be a huge change.

My cold is better today although I still got it, it is not nearly so debilitating as yesterday. Sara and I went to Katoomba this morning for some grocery shopping. We have been at home all afternoon as the weather is kind of gloomy.

I am off to Sydney by myself tomorrow to attend a former neighbour's farewell party.
I am leaving Sara behind with Richard over night for the first time. I do hope he feeds her something with vitamins and proteins.

It was a warm day.  Sara's ballet school rehearsal for the end of the year concert has began.  I took her to the rehearsal at 4pm at the usual place.  There must have been about 50 children and their mum or dad there in that small hall.  It was hot and the place was a chaos, not enough place for the grown up to sit, the teacher arrived late and was not really in control of the situation.  It was supposed to last half an hour, but it went for an hour.  Small children aged 2 to7 are not known for their patience.  The noise itself was beyond endurance level.  There were parents who were determined to carry on a conversation above the noise level which was already considerable, which meant that they had to shout at each other and I had to block my ears after a while.  I discovered that I still have temperature when I got home even after taking two panadols in the afternoon.  No wonder I was not feeling well in there.   I very much doubt if I will take Sara back to the ballet school for the rest of the year as there will be just more rehearsals.

I am still under the weather. I have now developed a cough. I don't know why Sara hasn't got what I have given that she spends half her life being within inches of my head.
Poor girl missed out on her playgroup this morning as I was not fit to go.
Fortunately, the weather is lovely and sunny today, which does make me feel better.

It's a rainy and cold weekend.
I am recovering from the cold I had and Sara had the runs yesterday and she had a rough night with several episodes of screams and fierce crying. However, she seems just fine today.
We've been to Blackheath Growers' market this morning where we got some duck and ocena trout fillets. We then drove down to Lithgow for a drive and some grocery shopping at Aldi.
My throat, nose and ears are bit mucoussy, so they did not cope with going up and down the altitude very well and I felt quite ill by the time we got home.
I will keep quiet for the rest of the day. Nov09 054

When I can't find something I'm looking for, Sara says

"Don't worry mum.  I'll get it for you next time I go shopping. OK mum?"

When I'm lamenting the fact that something is broken, Sara says

"Don't worry mum, I'll fix it for you later.  OK mum?"

When I tell her I'm not feeling well, Sara says

"Don't worry mum. I'll make you feel better." She pretends she has a fairy wand, waves it about and says "Turn mummy all better!" Then she asks "OK mum, OK?"

I have a sore throat and a headache.  It appears I have caught a cold....

Sara is fine at this stage.  Hopefully, she'll stay that way.

It has been raining since early this morning.  The garden certainly needs it after two days of extreme heat.

Sara came home with a little mounted canvas that she has painted at Andrea's today. When she came home, she asked for some glue. She said she wanted to stick her picture. I gave it to her without a second thought. A little later, she came to me all upset. She said she couldn't put the picture! She showed me her mounted picture, the back of it was completely covered in glue. She tried to hang it up on the wall, but it didn't stay up!

It's warm and windy here today.
Sara is at preschool and it is too hot for me to be out there gardening.

I made Sara an omlette last night.

I took the skin off a zuccini and finely diced it and smuggled only a small portion into the omlette. I also put some of my home made tomato sauce on it which also had pureed vegetables in it. Sara ate the melted cheese inside of the omlette, but did not touch the rest.

I asked why she didn't eat her omlette.

"Because it wasn't tasty."

When Richard came home, he asked her why she didn't eat her omlette.

"Because I didn't like the tomato sauce. Don't put the tomato sauce on the omlette mummy. And don't put any green stuff either."

Richard, naturally was sympathetic to her plight of having to deal with vegetable matters in her omlette. But I only used the white inside of the zuccini. How did she know that it was the green stuff?

It has been hot and humid since yesterday.
We went to Leura Markets and I ran into my old friend Isa who had a stall there, then to a bunch of Japanese women I know from the Japanese playgroup who had a stall together.

This morning, we went to Steiner playgroup where it was hot inside and out. Then we went to visit Lisette and the girls where it was cool as they have an airconditioner.

If today's weather is an indication of how it is going to be this coming summer, I really want an aircon in our bedroom too...
